Greetings to friends of the guitar,
This is my first column as president of the Triangle Guitar Society, and
I would like to thank you for your support during the first half of the season.
I have been a guitar teacher in Durham for many years, and have been a Society
board member for the last two.
As president, I am fully aware that the Society’s efforts are carried
forward by many people, and we are especially fortunate to have a talented and
hard working board. So far this season we have had a wonderful concert by Adam
Holzman, and a party that everyone enjoyed. It is rare to hear a remarkable
Artist like Mr. Holzman in such an intimate setting. He was extraordinary. We
are looking forward to having Lorenzo Mecheli play on February 11. He is getting
rave reviews across the country and I don’t want any of our members to miss
this wonderful artist. Also, another of our very successful Guitar Summits is
slated for the spring.
I would like to add a reminder that the Society depends on dues from
members. Often, ticket prices do not cover the cost of sponsoring an artist and
it is critical that we receive your financial support. We welcome additional
contributions, so please keep us in mind if you are considering an end of year
tax deduction since we are, of course, a non-profit organization.
I sincerely hope you will be able to join us at the Holiday Party on
December 17 at 5 pm, and I look forward to the opportunity to get to know all of
our members.
