Image File Storage Locations on BioConfocal and BioAnalysis Computers.

Image File Storage Locations

Users my store image data on the BioConfocal and BioAnalysis computers. Such storage is for signed up users of the confocal facility only and is for short term use. Data may be stored in the following locations:

• BioConfocal:-
  • D: (in sub-directory or below assigned by LaserSharp)
  • E: (in an identifyable sub-directory)
• BioAnalysis:-
  • D: (in an identifyable sub-directory)
  • E: (in an identifyable sub-directory)
  • MacExchange (shared over network)

The Caveats

• Files must be left in a sub-directory. You may create your own personalized sub-directory.
• Please do not leave files in root directories ( ie. \ ) on the hard disk drives.
• C: drive on either computer should not be used for storage except in exceptional circumstances.
• Please freely use removable disk storage. ie Zip (100 MB, ~350 images, $16) & Jazz (1 GB, ~3500 images, $100) disk and 3.5" floppy disks (1.44 MB, ~4 images, $1). Note assuming 512*512 pixel single channel images.
• Delete unneeded files.

Image files should be (or will be) removed according to these Image File Storage Policies.

Please note that ultimately it is your responsibility to ensure that your data is backed up to your satisfaction. Zip and Jazz drives are available on the BioAnalysis computer for archiving your data. In addition, data can be transferred from the BioConfocal and BioAnalysis computers using network connections to workgroups PCs, Apple computers or computers with FTP server connections.
