Network Connections
Image data acquired on the Bio-rad Confocal is stored on the BioConfocal computer. Data may be
viewed and analysed on that computer using LaserSharp or viewed using Confocal Assistant. The
data may be transferred to other computers using the workgroups windows & OS/2 peer network or
FTP. The OS/2 launch pad has buttons that facilitates these tasks. For transfers to Apple Computers
several extra steps need to be performed.
Image transfer to Apple Computers
- Conversion of pic to tif image file formats.
- Logon to OS/2 with username and assigned password.
- Connect to MacExchange on BioAnalysis and choose your sub-directory.
- Do a clip and drap transfer.
- Delete tif files on BioConfocal.
- Connect Mac's to Apple Talk shared directory on BioAnalysis using AppleTalk and connect
with username and assigned password.
Image transfers to PCs Running Windows or OS/2 networks
- Logon on to OS/2 on BioConfocal.
- Connect to remote conputer and drive.
- Click and drag.
Image transfers from PCs Running Windows or OS/2 networks
- Logon with username and enter assigned password at your PC.
- Browse Cellquest domain and BioConfocal computer. Connect to imagedata or
imageextra drive.
- Click and drag.
FTP transfer to remove computer
- Run FTP-PM by clicking on its icon on launch pad.
- Connect to your remote machine (eg. cellbio.wustl.edu)
- Logon onto remote machine.
- select binary transfers in FTP-PM.
- click and drag to transfer files.
