Greetings fellow society members!

I enjoyed seeing many of you at Jason Vieux’s wonderful concert.

This is the last letter I will be writing to you as president of the society.  A new president will be elected at the “end-of-year party,” the details of which will be announced. If you are interested in serving as the next president or in any other position, please contact one of the current board members and be sure to attend the party. Randy Reed will serve as interim president until that time.

There have been other changes to the board membership. Joey Ikner is program director, and Michael Chua will focus solely on his duties as webmaster. Also, we have filled or created several other board positions: past president Dennis Aberle is serving as vice president, Alice Poffinberger as newsletter editor, Elaine Mejia as treasurer, and Donnie Stallings as membership coordinator. There was a great deal of energy and many ideas at the last board meeting regarding the next season. I am sure it will be an exciting one.

Please mark your calendars for the Martha Masters concert, Sunday, April 28th, at the Arts Council building in downtown Durham. We are also fortunate to have her for a master class the day before. Let me know if you would like to play for Martha; the fee to play is $25. Auditing the master class will be free to members. I have enjoyed serving as your president and I intend to continue being an active member of the society.

Sincerely,

Frank Stallings
