The program will highlight the Spanish and Latin American roots and influences of the guitar in works by Heitor Villa-Lobos, Maximo Diego Pujol, Agustin Barrios, and Jorge M. Zarate. Ariel Reed, Soprano, will join her father in performing Roberto Gehard’s Cantares (Seven Spainish Folk Songs) for voice and guitar. The evening will round out with a classical guitar favorite, Giuliani’s Rossiniana, and an arrangement of a Beatles classic, which everyone should enjoy.
Randy Reed, in his eleventh year as guitar instructor at
Duke University and seventh year at St Mary's School, has performed throughout
the United States with additional recitals in Mexico and Canada. He is currently
enjoying his eighth year as president of the Triangle Guitar Society, a local
non-profit arts
organization he started 17 years ago. "His classical guitar speaks in remarkably
fluid terms." (John W. Lambert)
Dennis Aberle has been studying and performing classical guitar music for more than 20 years and is a school psychologist for Wake Co. Schools by profession. Currently, he is the vice president and program director of the Triangle Guitar Society.
