Adam Levin - Classical Guitar
BIOGRAPHY:
Adam
is an exceptional, prize-winning guitarist who is establishing himself as a
champion of contemporary Spanish composers. Adam has commissioned 30
Spanish composers from four generations to write new works dedicated to him.
In 2012, Adam signed a four-CD recording contract with Naxos to document all of
these new pieces. The first recording, 21st Century Spanish Guitar, Vol.
1 was released in May, 2013. Already, the disc is gathering critical
acclaim: Kenneth Keaton in American Record Guide wrote, Adam
Levins playing is superb with no technical difficulties, lovely tone, wide
range of dynamics and articulation
I cant imagine [these works] played with
more conviction, expression, and sheer joy. Chris
Morgan of Scene Magazine (UK) wrote, Levin
demonstrates why he is considered one of the world's foremost guitar virtuosos,
as well as a thoughtful scholar and creative visionary." The
recording was reviewed and selected by MusicWeb International as a "Recording
of the Month." Critic Brian Reinhart wrote, These
composers could not have asked for a better, more thoughtful and dedicated
guitarist to premiere their works.
In August 2013, Adam was on the cover of Classical Guitar magazine. You may read a PDF copy of the extensive interview here. In September 2013, Adam made his New York solo recital debut at Le Poisson Rouge to a packed house! Music critic Robert Leeper at Feast of Music Online gave Adam a rave review: The classical guitar is lucky to have a champion like Levin. His enthusiasm for the music and culture he has chosen is unbridled, and Monday night's performance shows that he has the talent to match.
